For the last weekend of my short summer some friends invited us to Nauvoo, I've never been so we were excited for the short trip. We first visited Carthage jail, we were in a really big group so it made it a little hard to get the full effect of the experience. We then went on to Nauvoo and watched the pageant and visited the sites. The pageant was very good. I'm not the crying type, but the tears sure were flowing during the pageant. I'm not ashamed, if you've seen it you know what I mean. We headed back to Chicago the next afternoon after getting our fill of historical sites. It was fascinating and the experience made me want to learn more about the saints in Nauvoo. Thanks to the Wahlen family for letting us tag along.
Little Emma and Andee became fast friends.
Krista and Andee in the upstairs bedroom at Carthage jail where the prophet and Hyrum were killed. The window in the picture is the window Joseph jumped out of when he was shot.
I'll let you guess what this picture is. If you can't figure it out leave a post and I'll tell you.
Us outside just bellow where Joseph was killed.
Statue of Joseph and Hyrum with the jail in the background.
Joseph and Emma's mansion house where they lived for part of their time in Nauvoo.
The final resting place of Joseph's body along with his wife Emma and brother Hyrum.
Brigham Young's house.
A statue in some garden with lots of statues of women and children.
The Nauvoo temple was amazing. It is a lot bigger than I thought it would be. It amazes me they could build something like that back then.

You are so lucky! That is like my dream vacation! So I was talking to my mom about dance camp the other day...just remembering the good old days. And it made me think of basketball camp!!! VASOLINE AND PLAYING CARDS, is all I need to say! haha!
Sounds like a good time. I wish we could go out there. I have always wanted to.
